Blur Will Be Back To Studio?
January 8th, 2008There are some inspiring new for the fans of “Blur”, who are know as the fathers of Britpop. The group is coming back to
studio, it being known that the Blur’s ex-guitarist Graham Coxon will join vocalist and keyboardist Damon Albarn, drummer
Dave Rowntree and bassist Alex James in their effort. According to British sources, the band is to start working on their
new album in November, 2007. “They’ve all had lots on, with solo projects, cartoon bands, political campaigns and farming.
But by the end of summer, their plates will be clear. They’ll go into the studio together in November”, the source says.
The whole thing about “Blur” reunion is there for about several years. The band, who had hits in the1990s with “Parklife”
and “Song 2”, have never officially split but haven’t made an album since 2003’s “Think Tank”. Graham Coxon was exiled from
the band in 2002 and was purely skeptical about a possibility to work together with his former teammates ever again.
However, he changed his mind a bit last year, saying that such a scenario is not totally impossible.
In an interview, the band’s drummer Dave Rowntree admitted they are heading back to the studio to see if they can reclaim
their musical magic. “We will spend one week recording and see what happens. We’re dipping our toes in the water. We have
not made any decision but we’ll see how we feel”, he said. Rowntree is too cautious in his optimism though, as this strategy
has proved successful in the past. “That tends to be the way albums start. That’s how the last one started. We get together
and either we say ‘it’s not the right time’ or we say ‘brilliant.’ We don’t want to prejudge the issue right now”, Roundtree
added.
